A2 Community First Look FAQ

What is A2?

    A2 is the second project from Another Axiom, creators of the hit game Gorilla Tag. A2 lets players take control of a robot champion and build a community beyond the limits of gravity. Players can travel through a fleet of stations to find your community. Once there, float or take one of the high speed systems to different casual game modes. However, if larger arena sports games are more your style, then find your way to one of the many stadiums. Players can cheer from the bleachers, commentate from the casters’ booth, or join in on the action.

    The game itself reimagines zero-g movement. We’re targeting human scale speeds with more physicality, hand based collision, sliding and paddle based momentum mechanics, all while using very few controller inputs. The community will have the ability to build their own A2 experience. The tools used to build the game will be the tools shipped to the community. Eventually, players will be able to run their own servers, control their own station, host their own rule sets, moderate and customize the look and feel of activities, posters, game modes, and more.

When and where is the A2 Community First Look happening?

    The A2 Community First Look is taking place on October 14th from 12pm to 6pm in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the Keep Memory Alive Event Center, 888 W Bonneville Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89106. Attendees are not required to stay for the entire duration. 

Do I need to bring my own headset?

    Yes, attendees will be responsible for bringing their own Quest 2 or Quest Pro headset, as well as all accessories like controllers, chargers, and external batteries if needed. Quest 1 will not be supported at the Vegas event. Make sure to bring your headset fully charged and ensure it is updated to the latest OS! More information on how to access the game at the event will be released at a later date. 

What is the travel and lodging situation?

    Attendees will be responsible for their own travel and lodging arrangements.

I am under 18, am I able to attend?

    Yes, however, attendees under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a guardian at the event and afterparty. 

What is the afterparty?

    There will be an after party from 7PM to 9PM at Velocity Esports. The after party will be a chance for the developers and attendees to mingle and have fun while having more casual discussions about A2, its future, and build more personal relationships between the community and the developers. This is an excellent opportunity to spend time with your friends and talk in depth with the Another Axiom team about what you experienced at the early access event, your feedback, and your thoughts on the next steps of development. Attendees will have access to the social lounge with board games, bowling, and the arcade. Refreshments will be provided.

What will be happening at the event?

    Attendees will have the opportunity to play a very early access build of A2. The state of the build we will be playing at the First Look will reflect that. It will not be a polished product or even at the level of an AppLab beta. The game will be in a blocky, minimal art state, as the team has been focused on the gameplay and locomotion, with art and aesthetic design coming later in the development cycle. This event is an opportunity for attendees to try the build, give direct feedback to the developers, and have detailed discussions about the game’s future and potential. 

    The event will start with a welcome to explain how the day will go. There will be space sectioned off for groups of attendees to play the game. Outside of the game, there will be scheduled sessions with the developers to discuss feedback that will help us refine our goals. 

    It will not be a non-stop, free-for-all playtest session. We’re going to need your cooperation and help to manage these scheduled sessions to give everyone equal access to playing time. Our goal is to give everyone at least a single session of 30 continuous minutes in the build. We hope to push that number higher, but this is a realistic target for the number of tickets we are going to issue.
     In all honesty, if you’re coming out to just play the build for 30 mins - this is not the event for you. We’ll be adding players to our builds over time throughout development and you’ll be able to play from the comfort of your own home when it’s time. This IS the event for you if you want to try some of our crazy ideas and get into spirited conversations for hours about the vision for our game.

Will I need to sign anything?

I'm a member of the Echo VR or Gorilla Tag community, should I attend this event?
  
  This event is going to be specific to A2 and our efforts to create a new community for this game and further the development process of A2. While Another Axiom loves both the Echo VR and Gorilla Tag communities and values their input on how to make A2 truly special in the VR landscape, A2 is a unique vision that will not be a replacement for either game.

    There will be elements of both games and communities in A2, but our goal is to build something new and exciting from the foundations of what already exists and the lessons we have learned from both Echo and Gorilla Tag. This event will be one of our first steps in creating a new community for A2 and a way to foster communication and connections between the community and the developers to get valuable feedback for the future development of A2. If your sole interest is Gorilla Tag or an Echo VR clone, this event is not for you.
